The project will produce:
- A Training Manual (in English and localised versions in 8 different languages: EN, FI, SE, DE, LV, BG, Turkish, Russian)
- Training DVD with video materials accompanying the Training Manual but being an independent product (filmed in English, with subtitles in up to 12 languages - as above plus GR, NO, IT, PL for units from previous project);
- European Certificate in Diversity Training, a standard course based on materials above.
The training materials will be an important tool for educators working with adults and young people in initial or further vocational training or formal, non-formal and informal education, and they will allow trainers to focus on diversity issues in the workplace in their communities and at European level.
The existing materials will be adapted to take into account not only cultural diversity, but also other aspects of diversity neglected in the previous projects, such as disability, sexual orientation, and ageism. The materials will assist trainers in adopting a learner-based approach to knowledge transfer, which will enhance and develop learners' ability to experience diversity as something which they can control, contribute to, and benefit from. The methods and methodologies used to develop the materials combine traditional approaches (text comprehension, information search, questionnaires, discussion) with the more contemporary (future search, appreciative inquiry, life-story interviews). The design will draw on the pedagogical of different disciplines (business training, applied linguistics, cross-cultural studies) and include the use of senses, paradigmatic and narrative thinking. In the adaptation and localisation of the training materials partners will make use of their expertise in different pedagogies and will try to integrate the materials to the local context in each participating country, so as to produce a complex and easily adaptable set of materials.
For the European Certificate in Diversity Training partners will use a learner-based approach, which means that candidates would go through a self-assessment that will help them identify the areas in need of training, followed by training based on the materials (in-site, through partner or licensed organisations) and examination.
